Defamation case: Delhi court asks Congress leader to share info with AAP’s Atishi, Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, Mar 3 (PTI) A Delhi court on Monday directed Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit to share documents related to his defamation suit with AAP leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh.

Additional chief judicial magistrate Paras Dalal also directed the complainant to supply a copy of the pen drive containing the alleged defamatory statements to the respondents.

“The proposed accused side submits that the documents filed alongwith the application filed on 16.01.2025 by the complainant side has not been supplied to them. The complainant side undertakes to supply the same. Be fixed for compliance/consideration on March 12, 2025,” the court said.

The judge on January 16 directed the AAP leaders to file a reply and said, “Matter is at the stage of cognisance and in compliance of the first proviso to Section 223 BNSS, the proposed accused persons are to be given the opportunity of being heard. Accordingly… let notice be issued to both proposed accused persons.”

The complaint alleged Atishi and Singh “deliberately caused harm to the goodwill of Dikshit”, “tarnished his image” and “defamed” him as during a press conference on December 26 2024, the AAP leaders accused Dikshit of having colluded with the BJP to receive crores of rupees and get the campaign for Delhi Assembly election funded by the saffron party.

Dikshit contested the Delhi assembly polls against former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat.
