During the detailed and cordial meeting, the delegation held extensive discussions on both internal and external matters concerning the Congress party and its organizational strength in Jammu and Kashmir. The team shared various concerns related to the representation of the OBC community, political empowerment, organizational inclusiveness, and the growing aspirations of backward classes in the Union Territory.

Dr. Naseer Hussain gave a patient hearing to the delegation and addressed numerous concerns raised during the meeting. He expressed strong support for the demands of the OBC Department and assured the delegation that the Indian National Congress stands firmly with the backward classes. He reiterated the party’s commitment to ensuring social justice, equality, and rightful political representation of marginalized communities.

One of the key issues discussed in the meeting was the demand for a caste survey in Jammu and Kashmir and a nationwide caste census. Dr. Hussain highlighted the importance of data-based policy-making and said that the Congress party has already advocated for a caste census at the national level. He assured the delegates that this issue will continue to be one of the top priorities for the party, as it forms the foundation of social justice and inclusive development.

Madan Lal Chalotra, while speaking at the occasion, strongly criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he termed a complete betrayal of all sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the Other Backward Classes (OBCs). He said the BJP failed to deliver on its promises and has left the OBC community politically underrepresented and socially neglected. Chalotra called upon the Congress leadership to further strengthen the OBC wing in the UT and ensure that OBCs are given proportional representation at all levels of the party structure.

The delegation thanked Dr. Naseer Hussain for his valuable time, guidance, and assurance of support. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to intensify efforts to raise the voice of the OBC community and continue the struggle for their due rights under the Indian Constitution. The members pledged to strengthen the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi and committed themselves to building a stronger, inclusive, and just society.
