Delhi police constable hit and drag case: Court remands two accused in judicial custody after police interrogation
New Delhi [India], October 3 (ANI): Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court on Thursday remanded two accused in the Delhi police constable hit and drag case in judicial custody. In this case, a police constable was allegedly crushed to death by a car driver in the Nangloi area on Saturday Night.
Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Charu Asiwal remanded accused Rajnish and Dharmendra to judicial custody for 14 days. They were produced before the court after police custody remand.
Delhi Police produced accused Rajnish and Dharmendra before the court and sought judicial remand.
Earlier on Monday, the Delhi Police while seeking five days remand of accused Rajnish, had said that he is a passenger of the same vehicle used in the commission of the offence of killing the constable.
The person (Dharmendra) who was driving is absconding and there are inputs that he has fled to Himachal Pradesh, the police said. But, later on the same day, Dharmendra was arrested by Delhi Police.
The police had said that they are still searching for the driver and owner of the car.
Delhi police had submitted that accused Rajnish is to be taken to Jhajjar Haryana and Ponta Sahib Himachal Pradesh
Defence counsel Aashutosh Bhardwaj had opposed the custody remand application. He said the accused was not driving the vehicle. There is no criminal intention on his part. Five days custodial remand is not justified.
Defence counsel had also submitted that the Akashdeep, elder brother of accused was also illegally detained.
However, the police denied the assertion. It was submitted that he was released after inquiry.
The court said to the defence counsel that if the police are dying in this way, there will be “no law and order.”
