DEO B’la reviews Assembly Election preparations; emphasizes on intensifying SVEEP Activities

BARAMULLA, AUGUST 16: The District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, chaired a comprehensive review meeting today at the DC Office meeting hall to ensure thorough preparations for the upcoming Assembly Elections.


The DEO highlighted the need to develop a comprehensive database for election personnel and finalize the First Level Check (FLC) procedures for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). He also stressed the establishment of a Media Center and the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) to oversee media-related activities.


DEO Sherpa directed officers to intensify Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities. He emphasized the need for targeted campaigns to educate voters about the election process, the importance of their participation, and how to access voting facilities. The aim is to increase voter turnout and ensure that all eligible voters are well-informed and prepared for the election, thereby reinforcing the democratic process.


For infrastructure, DEO Sherpa directed the setup of Dispatch Centers and Strong Rooms to securely store election materials. He emphasized the importance of efficient management and commissioning of EVMs, along with creating a detailed Counting Plan to ensure accuracy and transparency in the vote counting process.


Regarding logistics, the DEO mandated the deployment of Flying Squads to enforce compliance and address any on-ground issues. He also called for the installation of ramps at polling stations to facilitate accessibility for all voters and emphasized training sessions for election staff.


DEO concluded by stressing the importance of thorough planning and effective coordination to guarantee a smooth and transparent election process. These directives are intended to ensure that all preparations are completed well before the election date.


Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad; Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineer R&B, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer and other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
