DEO Kathua holds meeting with Sector, Police Magistrates in Basohli

KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 23: District Election Officer Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas conducted an important meeting today with sector magistrates and police magistrates in Basohli to review the preparations for the upcoming elections.

The Returning Officer, 65-Basohli AC Anil Kumar Thakur was also present in the meeting.

The meeting focused on ensuring strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, maintaining law and order, and establishing effective communication between election and law enforcement teams.

Dr. Minhas underscored the need for timely response mechanisms and coordination to address any emerging challenges, urging officials to prioritize voter facilitation and security.

The District Election Officer also provided instructions for ensuring the proper management of polling stations, transportation of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines), and the deployment of adequate security measures to safeguard the democratic process. The meeting also addressed training requirements and the logistics for handling sensitive polling stations.

He further advised the team to maintain transparency and fairness throughout the election process, reiterating the responsibility each officer holds in delivering an election free of discrepancies or undue influence. ‎
