DEO Poonch inaugurates Girls and Boys boxing competition under SVEEP
POONCH, AUGUST 31: To boost electoral awareness and foster a culture of informed voting among the youth and the general public, District Election Officer Poonch, Vikas Kundal inaugurated Girls and Boys Boxing Competition in the Sports Stadium here today.
The event was organized under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program aiming to integrate sports and voter education with the focus to inspire these boxers to be champions both inside the ring and as responsible citizens.
The competition brought together young girls and boys boxers within Poonch district offering them a platform to demonstrate their skills in a highly competitive environment. The event not only highlighted the physical and strategic abilities of the athletes but also served as an important venue to educate first-time voters about their democratic rights and responsibilities. The participating female athletes shared their experiences and perspectives creating a meaningful exchange that highlighted both their sporting achievements and their growing understanding of their civic duties.
After inauguration, Vikas Kundal interacted with the participants discussing the various facets of democracy and the importance of being well-informed before casting a vote. He encouraged first-time voters to embrace their civic duty with seriousness and to participate actively in the forthcoming Assembly Elections 2024 emphasizing that awareness and responsible voting is essential for the strength and integrity of the nation.
The visit concluded with the District Election Officer Poonch reiterating the administration’s unwavering commitment to conduct a free, fair and transparent election in the district. He stressed the importance of ongoing voter education and engagement particularly focusing on the younger generation and first-time voters who are the future of the nation. His interaction with the participants reinforced the administration’s dedication in ensuring that every eligible voter in the district is not only registered but also motivated to participate in the democratic process with a full understanding of its significance.
