DEO Rajouri reviews arrangements for counting day

RAJOURI, OCTOBER 05: In preparation for the upcoming Legislative Assembly election results, District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma chaired a comprehensive review meeting regarding the arrangements for the counting of votes and the management of law and order on the day of counting.


DEO stressed the importance of ensuring a smooth counting process, directing all ROs to convene meetings with election candidates and their representatives ahead of the counting day. These meetings will focus on establishing clear guidelines and ensuring that all participants understand the process, thereby avoiding confusion or disruptions on the day.


To avoid traffic disruptions, especially on the National Highway, the DEO instructed officials to ensure no traffic issues occur on the counting day. Designated parking locations for candidates, election staff, and media personnel were discussed, and these locations will be marked well in advance to avoid any confusion. In addition, officials were directed to maintain a secure inner perimeter around the counting venue to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the process.


The DEO outlined the proper procedures for sharing counting information, stressing transparency and timely updates. Officials were directed to use the links provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for checking and verifying results and these links will be shared with the public and media for accurate and real-time information.


With the increasing role of social media in disseminating information, DEO emphasized the need for robust monitoring of social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation and ensure that the election results are reported accurately. A dedicated team will monitor social media activity closely, and any attempts to spread false information will be dealt with promptly.


The DEO also reviewed the status of postal ballots, directing the Nodal Officer for Postal Ballots and other concerned officials to ensure that all postal ballots are delivered to the counting centers on time.


The DEO, in coordination with the Additional SP, discussed measures to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents during the counting process. All enforcement agencies have been directed to remain vigilant, and adequate security personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations throughout the district to maintain law and order.


The meeting was attended by ADDC, Raj Kumar Thapa, ADC, Rajiv Khajuria, Returning Officers, Dy. DEO, Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Returning Officers and other concerned officials.
