DEO Ramban briefs Media on election preparedness

RAMBAN, AUGUST 22: District Election Authority Ramban has mobilized all resources to ensure the smooth conduct of the General Election to Legislative Assembly-2024.
“The focus is on providing a level playing field to all contesting candidates and promote maximum participation in the election process” said District Election Officer Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, while addressing a press conference held here today in the 24X7 Election Control Room in the DC Office Complex, Maitra.


The DEO informed that elections in the two assembly constituencies of Ramban District will take place in the 1st phase, with voting scheduled on September 18, 2024. The official notification in this regard has already been issued on August 20, 2024 by the concerned Returning Officers.


He detailed that the district comprises 365 polling stations, including 171 in AC-54 Ramban and 194 in AC-55 Banihal. “All polling stations across the district have been equipped with 100 percent assured minimum facilities. Additionally, 12 model polling stations have been established to further enhance the voting experience of the voters” he added.


Informing about the key dates, the DEO said the last date for filing nominations is August 27, 2024, followed by scrutiny on August 28, 2024, while the final date for the withdrawal of candidature is August 30, 2024. Polling is set to be held on September 18, 2024, with vote counting scheduled for October 4, 2024, under stringent security and other necessary arrangements at the designated Strong Room in the DC Office Complex.


The DEO revealed that the district has 224,000 eligible voters, including 116,009 males and 108,185 females.


The DEO said that all necessary boarding and lodging arrangements would be made for the Polling staff by the local BLOs at the respective Polling Stations.


The DEO emphasized that designated personnel and machinery are actively enforcing the Model Code of Conduct to maintain the integrity of the electoral process. Extensive awareness activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, including rallies, debates, seminars, and house-to-house awareness campaigns are being conducted across the district to boost voter turnout.


He appealed to the public to participate enthusiastically in the upcoming assembly elections.


The DEO also informed the media that the 24X7 control room is coordinating 12 different types of election-related activities, monitoring the election process and disseminating essential information to the public.
