DEO Ramban reviews election preparedness for smooth conduct of Assembly Polls

RAMBAN, AUGUST 19: District Election Officer (DEO) Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, today chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the district’s preparedness for Assembly Elections-2024.


The meeting focused on ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election process.


The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulbir Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh; Returning Officer for AC-54 Ramban (ACR) S. Harpal Singh; RO for AC-55 Banihal, Rizwan Asgar; (SDM) Ramsoo, Ghansham Basotra; Deputy District Election Officer, Abdul Jabar; AROs; Nodal Officers, and other concerned officers.


During the meeting, the DEO emphasized the importance of adherence to the rules, regulations, and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India to ensure a level playing field for all contestants, including political parties and independent candidates.


He also outlined the roles and responsibilities of various departments and officials during the ongoing election preparations and stressed the need for effective communication.


The DEO reviewed the arrangements related to communication, security, transport, training, polling stations, and other critical components of the election process.


The DEO issued directions for the strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) throughout the district during the election period. He also instructed officers to ensure that essential services and supplies remain uninterrupted, despite the ongoing election activities.


The DEO also directed all the surveillance teams and flying squads to ensure vigilant monitoring as per the guidelines, to curb unethical and illegal activities during the election across the district.


SSP Kulbir Singh discussed various points regarding security and law and order situation during the election period. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between officers and various departments’ level to ensure the smooth conduct of elections across the district.
