DEO Shopian holds interaction with representatives of Political Parties

SHOPIAN, MARCH 22: The District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb chaired a meeting with the representatives of various Political Parties of Shopian district at Mini-Secretariat, here.

At the outset, threadbare discussion was held on Model Code of Conduct, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Advertisement certification, Campaigning, Electronic Media usage and other matters, and parties were asked to adhere to the poll related guidelines.

The representatives were also apprised of poll day related standard operating procedures to be observed by polling parties as well as the contesting candidates.

Speaking on the occasion, DEO apprised representatives that no one should make use of private property for campaigning without the consent of the owner, nor any rally or meeting be held without permission.

Advertisements in electronic media and print media shall be telecasted/ broadcast only after the prior permission of District MCMC, said DEO.

The DEO also exhorted upon that no official vehicle shall be used during the election campaign. He stressed for adopting the Election Commission of India’s guidelines in letter and spirit.

The Dy. DEO, Shopian, Jahangir Ahmed, DIO, Showkat Hussain, representatives of political parties and officers and officials of Election Department Shopian were present.
