DEO, SSP Poonch review election preparations in Surankote and Mendhar

POONCH, SEPTEMBER 17: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections, District Election Officer (DEO) Poonch, Vikas Kundal, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mumtaz Ahmad conducted detailed inspections of polling stations in the Surankote and Mendhar Assembly constituencies today. The objective was to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.

The review focused on three major areas: infrastructure readiness, security arrangements, and the functionality of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs). Both officials emphasized the importance of creating an environment where citizens can vote freely and securely.

“We are committed to ensuring that every voter can participate without any difficulties,” said DEO Vikas Kundal, highlighting that all necessary measures are being taken to guarantee an efficient and fair election process.

In addition to inspecting the polling stations, the officials held meetings with senior election officials overseeing the Surankote and Mendhar Assembly constituencies.

SSP Mumtaz Ahmad assured that comprehensive security plans are in place. “Our security personnel are fully prepared to maintain peace and ensure that polling stations remain safe throughout the election,” he stated.

The officials also met with election observers to brief them on security measures and other logistical aspects, ensuring coordination among various agencies. The elections for the Poonch, Surankote, and Mendhar Assembly constituencies are scheduled for September 25th.
