DEO Udhampur briefs Zonal & Sectoral Magistrates on election duties, urges proactive approach
UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 29: In preparation for the upcoming general Assembly Elections 2024, District Election Officer Udhampur, Saloni Rai, convened a meeting cum interactive session with Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to brief them on their roles and responsibilities, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The meeting was held at the District Police Lines, Udhampur.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, IAS Probationer Swati Sheemar, Returning Officers and other key officers along with Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates from all four Assembly constituencies of the district attended the meeting.
During the interactive session, DEO emphasized the need for the magistrates to remain vigilant and stay updated with the latest protocols and procedures set by the Election Commission. She stressed the importance of their role in ensuring a robust and transparent election process, underscoring their responsibility in upholding the integrity of the democratic process.
She directed the magistrates to maintain close coordination with Polling Officers, Returning Officers and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the election in their respective zones and sectors. DEO also instructed the ROs to provide detailed checklists to the magistrates, helping them in carrying out their duties meticulously.
She directed the officers to perform their duties with utmost dedication and remain proactive on the ground, ensuring that the elections are conducted smoothly. The DEO highlighted the importance of adhering strictly to the Model Code of Conduct and ensuring impartiality in all actions.
DEO extended her best wishes to the officers and reaffirmed that the Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Assembly elections.
