Department of Commerce, JU organised Industry-Academia Linkage Meet

Jammu, August 30: P.G. Department of Commerce, University of Jammu in collaboration with Dean Students Placement, University of Jammu organised Industry-Academia Linkage Meet on 29^th August, 2023.

The Industry- Academia Linkage Meet was initiated by the Department under the mentorship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof.Umesh Rai, to facilitate the summer training internship programme to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by creating a platform for open discussions and idea sharing. 

Mr. Arun Gupta, President Chamber of Commerce, was the Chief Guest of the event. The Industry-Academia Linkage Meet Provided a unique opportunity for networking and forging connections that have the potential to provide students to cater the dynamic demands of the business world.Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Director, ICCCR & HRM, University of Jammu formally welcomed all the distinguished experts from varied fields of Industry & Commerce and extended her gratitude to all the Industry representativesfor sparing their valuable time for the event.

Dr.JeevanJyoti, Head of the Department threw light on the relevance of organizing Industry-Academia Meet and quoted that such kind of events are not just desirable but imperative. She urged all Industry leaders and stakeholders to foster an environment of continuous learning and collaboration for the internship and placement of students.Arun Gupta, President of Chamber of Commerce shared his personal experience in the field of Industry and Commerce and further suggested the Department of Commerce should develop students in such a manner that they should become job providers rather than job seekers.

Gagan Jain, Director VKC Nuts Pvt. Ltd. urged the Department to motivate the students to go out of J&K and have the experience of outer world and incorporate their experience for the growth of themselves and our state.Mr.Vikrant Taggar, proprietor, Policy Relook Pvt. Ltd., Jammu suggested Sales Pyramid concepts in the curriculum designed for the students.

Mr. Arshad Noomani, Functional Manager, DIC, Jammu, also an alumni of University of Jammu, informed the industrialist and the Department about the facilities and initiatives taken by the Government and urged them to take full advantage of it.Prof. B. K. Bajaj, Dean Students Placement, University of Jammuhighlighted the best practices of University of Jammu for the placement of the students and further he quoted that University is always open to inculcate the suggestions given by industrialists.

He thanked all the dignitaries and appreciated their contribution for the success of the event.Prof. Hardeep Chahal and Dr. Jeevan Jyoti honoured the distinguished guests with momentos.
