Department of Home Science, JU organizes Induction Programme for students
Jammu, Dec 28: The Department of Home Science, University of Jammu, organized an Induction programme for the newly admitted students in the Master’s Degree programme in Human Development. The programme started with a formal welcome address by Prof. SamridhiArora, Head of Department.
It was followed by an introduction of the faculty members to the students and a detailed visual presentation on the mission, history, faculty profile, programme structure, thrust areas of research and outreach activities, available facilities, and potential placement areas. Prof. Arora also apprised the students that the Department has come a long way to being recognized as a prominent Home Science Institution at the national level.
She advised the new students to put their 100 percent into the programme and gave valuable mantras required to build competencies to achieve maximum. She also motivated the students by giving them information related to the alumni who are well-placed in various reputed fields and bringing laurels to the Department. She briefed the students that owning the institution is very important.
Other faculty members Prof. RajniDhingra, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof. ShashiManhas, and Dr. SarikaManhas also graced the programme and shared valuable information related to the Department and University. They advised the students on the relevance of studying this subject and also asked them to increase the visibility of Home Science in society as an applied discipline.
They also talked about the balance between personal and academic life. They urged the students to develop a positive attitude towards life and also motivated the students to participate in all the activities including academic, cultural, literary, and sports of the Department and University. They informed the students about the responsibilities, expectations, anti-ragging committee, and code of conduct.
Research scholars of the Department also shared snippets of their life as a student and how the Department helped shape and build their personalities and academic life. The programme was attended by faculty members, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students.
