Department of MSCM Organises Professional Development Programme on Entrepreneurship Development

Jammu, 22 February 2025: Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, Central University of Jammu conducted Professional Development Programme on “Entrepreneurship Development” under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. The event marked the gracious presence of distinguished resource persons from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and faculty members from Department of MSCM including Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Dr Anju Thapa, Dr Arun Yadav and Dr. Shahid Mushtaq.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dean School of Business Studies and Dr. Neelika Arora, Head, Department of MSCM. Prof. Bhasin in her opening address appreciated the efforts of the Department of MSCM under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain in carrying out the Professional Development Programme on Entrepreneurship Development in collaboration with JKEDI.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Bhasin discussed managing innovations through linking education & entrepreneurship. She impressed upon the participants to take the maximum benefits from the distinguished speakers of the day having vast experience in facilitating the learners to have more clarity about entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem.

Dr. Neelika Arora, Head, Department of Marketing & SCM welcomed the participants and introduced the Resource Persons of the day. She highlighted that Resource Person’s have significant experience of nurturing entrepreneurs and incubating business ideas.  Introducing the resource persons, she pointed that this event promises to be a great learning opportunity for all those who are interested in expanding their knowledge to unlock entrepreneurial opportunities. She informed the gathering that this PDP is aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Head, Centre for New Enterprise Creation, JKEDI during his session introduced JKEDI and its initiatives for promoting entrepreneurship.  His session focused on the role of JKEDI in facilitating entrepreneurs of the region to start sustainable and scalable businesses. He shared valuable insights with participants about how to think and generate ideas for start-ups. He highlighted that JKEDI is actively involving youth under J&K Start-up Policy and highlighted the success stories of incubatees who took entrepreneurship as a career option.

Mr. Zahid Ali Dar, Incharge Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Business Modelling, JKEDI during his session spoke about generating ideas that would be viable as businesses and encouraged students to think about uniqueness, feasibility and competition as well. Mr. Zahid Ali Dar guided participants through various exercises and group activities designed to stimulate their creative thinking and idea generation skills. The PDP aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship saw an enthusiastic participation from students of the MBA (Marketing Management) 2nd & 4th Semester students. Some students shared their ideas and a professional discussion over the steps to take an idea to a business took place over the same. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing and SCM in his address apprised the audience about the Professional Development Programmes initiated by the Department for the benefit of the participants to enrich their orientation about the innovation entrepreneurship ecosystem He pointed out that in the fast-changing technological world entrepreneurship is the need of the hour to create a pool of job creators rather than job seekers and also elaborated the concept of Kaushal Bharat – Kushal Bharat. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 50 participants registered for this event. While sharing feedback some of the participants said that it was a great learning experience for us and an exciting experience for everybody present here. The PDP aimed to provide a platform for students to explore their entrepreneurial potential and develop innovative solutions to real world problems. The sessions were well received by participants followed by enthusiastic question and answer session. The entire programme was coordinated by Dr Shahid Mushtaq under the overall supervision of Dr. Neelika Arora. Dr. Naresh Kumar conducted the proceedings of the Programme and Dr. Shahid Mushtaq proposed a formal vote of thanks expressing gratitude to all the contributors and supporters of this initiative.
