Dept of Education, JU in Collaboration with UJAA organizes Alumni Interaction Meet
JAMMU, May 17: The Department of Education, University of Jammu, organized an “Alumni Interaction Meet”, in collaboration with University of Jammu Alumni Association (UJAA). The theme of the programme was Rejuvenating Cultural legacy of India,” KAS officer Rajinder Singh Rana, alumnus of the department expressed his thoughts and feelings of being here in the department after so many years. Followed by this a fusion folk song containing dogri, punjabi, himachali, rajasthani and bengali songs was sung by the Ph.D. Scholars Ms. Dyutima and Ms. Sheetu.
Ms. Anupama, Alumnus 1998 batch and scholar of the esteemed, now retired, faculty member Prof Mubarak Singh, shared her feelings of joy and nostalgia of being present in the department, after so many years, from which she once passed out.A well known figure to the masses and a well-known name from the Media and Journalism industry of Jammu, Dr. Alka Sharma, Alumnus and former scholar of Prof.
Renu Nanda, addressed the audience with her charismatic personality and shared the importance of guidance and counselling in the life of students in order to do better in life. Dr. Alka is also a Women Achievers’ Awardee and member of the counselling Cell, Directorate of School Education.
Former Faculty member Prof. Mubarak Singh shared his proud experiences being a part of this department as an alumnus 1979 batch and where he was one of the only 5 male members in a class of 50 students, the rest being females. He applauded the department for completing 50 glorious years of operation.
He also insisted on coming up with programmes and lectures highlighting and celebrating the educationists of the department like Prof. M. Varma, Prof. Taneja, Prof. Ghulam Rasool and make the students and scholars aware of their valuable contributions to the field of education. Alumnus 2014 batch Ms.
Mandeep K. Wazir, now serving as SI, Women Cell, Gandhi Nagar shared her experience and memories from the department laying stress on having a clear approach towards one’s goal in life. Ms. Anjali, alumnus of the department, currently working as the core member in the Aakashwani Jammu Kendra, beautifully highlighted listening to one’s heart and following one’s dream irrespective of societal pressure in order to be happy and successful. Ms. Bindiya Tickoo, alumnus and announcer at the Aakashwani Jammu addressed the audience on how she was inspired by Prof.
Renu Nanda to either stick to the positive or the negative side and not to stick in between, which is the main reason of chaos and stress in life. She abides by this philosophy till now and is happy pursuing her dreams. She also laid importance on the role of “language” in order to build a rapport and trust with a person.
Earlier, Prof. Renu Nanda, Head, Repartment of Education took the dais and expressed how blessed and rejuvenated she felt meeting all the esteemed guests and alumni of the department and thanked them for their presence. Earlier, Dr. Kajal Devi Manhas in her welcome address brought to light various activities and programmes organized by the department under the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav “Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal’ and the current theme of G20, after which the theme for today’s programme was finalized. Ms Dyutima Kesar briefed the gathering about the activities and achievements of the department.
The audience were presented with a beautiful, nostalgic documentary containing all the important milestones covered by the department from its history, to its eminent faculty to the great activities this vivacious department has mothered and all the celebrated Heads this department has had which was presented by Dr Ana Bali. Ravinder, a student of M.Ed. 4th Semester, shared the history, concept and idea behind G20. Following this, a song was sung by students of M.Ed. 4th Semester – Ms Bhumika, Ms Kiran, Ms. Sonali, Ms.Shivani, Ms. Ronika, Ms Shibani which was dedicated to the guests.
Mr. Jahangir, a student of MA 2nd Semester narrated his beautiful poetry welcoming and rejoicing the presence of the esteemed alumni members.M.Ed. 4th Semester students Ms. Bhumika, Ms. Kiran, Ms. Sonali, Ms. Ronika, Ms. Shibani and Ms. Shivani entertained the audience by singing the cultural dogri folk songs of Jammu.
Mr. Sudershan, student of M.Ed. 4th Semester narrated a lovely poem to the audience and after that the dais was taken by Ms. Señorita, and Ms. Anjali, students from MA4th Semester. A very insightful and entertaining form of “Nukkad Natak” was performed before the audience turning the spotlight on the and Unsung Heroes of Jammu” like Brig Rajinder Singh, by and the students of MA 2nd Semester-Mr. Jahangir, My Divya, Ms. Rishika, Ms. Kulwinder, Ms. Prachi, Ms. Anshika, Ms. Deepika and Ms. Sakshi. The students wished to plea before NCERT & SCERT to incorporate the histories and biographies of the unsung heroes of Jammu into the curriculum.
