Deputy Commissioner Rajouri inspects agricultural seed store at Darhal

RAJOURI, APRIL 17:  To promote agriculture and guarantee the availability of top-notch seeds to farmers, Vikas Kundal, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, today conducted a surprise inspection of the Agriculture Seed Store at Darhal.

During the inspection, the DC emphasised the significance of high-quality seeds in enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the livelihood of farmers. He said the access to certified and pure seeds that are resistant to pests and diseases will play a critical role in enhancing crop yield and ensuring food security. The availability of top-notch seeds for the farmers will play a major role in doubling their incomes.

The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the officials at the Agriculture Seed Store and reviewed the stock of seeds available, including fodder crops. Additionally, he inquired about the status of millet seeds in the district, as this year has been dedicated as the year of millets.

The officers of the Agriculture Department informed the Deputy Commissioner that stocking of the seeds for the ensuing sowing seasons is being carried out across the district and assured that only the best quality seeds would be provided to the farmers.

The DC also expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements and facilities at the seed store and appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department in maintaining the quality and quantity of seeds. He also directed the officials to conduct regular testing of seeds to ensure their quality and urged them to make sure that only certified seeds are distributed to farmers.

Furthermore, the DC also emphasised the importance of creating awareness among farmers about the benefits of using certified seeds and adopting modern agricultural practices to maximise their crop production. He encouraged the farmers to avail the facilities provided by the Agriculture Department and use high-quality seeds for better agricultural outcomes.

The surprise inspection of the Agriculture Seed Store by the DC depicts the government’s commitment to promote agriculture and ensure food security in the region.
