“Despite winning awards for five years…” Mamata Banerjee attacks Centre on lack of funds
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 3 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that despite winning awards for five years the State Government was forced to close down the 100 days work scheme due to paucity of funds from the central government.
Attacking the central government on not disbursing adequate funds to West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee said, “Our scheme of 100 days work had to be closed down despite of winning awards for five time. They (central government) have not released 7000 Crore till now. If states like UP, MP, Orissa gets why not Bengal? Out of Political vendetta they have stopped our fund.”
The West Bengal Chief Minister also came down heavily on the central govenrnment for not answering about their own debts despite highlighting that the state debt of West Bengal has increased.
“They say state debt has increased but they never say how much debt has increased for the Central Government. We never get these answers. Despite implementing so many development projects, we have brought down our debt burden. For the central government, the debt burden was 62.72 lakh crore earlier and now 150 lakh crore now. But they never answer us,” Mamata Banerjee said.
Banerjee also said that on August 6, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party will be protesting in every block against the Central government from 12 pm to 4 pm.
Mamata Banerjee said that an archive will be created at Alipore jail about the awards received by the state so that people can know about the achievements of Bengal.
“We will create an archive at Alipore jail about the awards received by the state nationally and internationally. This is the state government’s achievement. People who will research on it in future can know and learn about Bengal,” Banerjee said.

Speaking on the high-handedness of Governor Ananda Bose on the appointment of Vice Chancellors in universities, Mamata said, “It is not the work of Raj Bhawan. He is making his own cell. He is bringing people from outside, is there no expert in Bengal? We heard that people from Kerala have been made VC.”
Comparing Governor Bose with his predecessor Jagdeeb Dhankar, who is now the Vice President, Mamata said, “Dhankar had never done like this though we had arguments in many cases. The Governor is working as per BJP and on the direction of central government.”
Speaking on the situation in Manipur and the violence in Haryana, Mamata said, “Today Manipur is burning. What is happening in Haryana? I heard CM of Haryana saying that he cannot provide security to all. These are working as provocation.”
“You people are creating violence on the basis of caste and then trying to douse the fire. From now itself they have started danga politics. The total is running on the basis of bulldozer,” she added.
