Development of best possible sports infrastructure in Budgam to be ensured: DC
Declares Inter-Zonal District Level Kho-Kho, Kabaddi girls competitions open
BUDGAM, AUGUST 22: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo today declared Inter Zonal, District level Kho- Kho and Kabaddi competitions open at District Sports Ground Budgam.
The event was organised by District Youth Services and Sports Office Budgam, in which hundreds of students from all 12 zones are participating.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, DC welcomed the participating students at District Headquarter Stadium and appreciated them to give their best during competitions.
He said that the District Budgam has abundant Sports talent with youth full of aspirations and creativity to create niche in sports and in other other fields.
He said to give best platform to the youth, the District Administration in consultations with the sports authorities is committed to create better sports infrastructure at District as well as zonal level across Budgam.
He said that Sports Stadium Budgam will see a major development very shortly.
“Besides beautification and upgradation works, flood lights activation for night tournaments and other sports activities shall be ensured at Sports Stadium Budgam soon,” said DC.
The DC further said that all major requirement including sports fields, turfs, matting and other facilities shall be established in all required areas and dedicated to our youth as early as possible.
He said this will enable our talented youth to perform better at National as well as International level and bring laurels to not only our District but UT also.
On the occasion, under ongoing “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” campaign, various next to the kin of martyrs and serving veers of CRPF and other forces were felicitated.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by CO 25th CRPF Bn Humhama, Rajat Jain, DYSSO Balbir Singh, DYSP Headquarter, Saqib Ahmad and other senior CRPF and officers of DYSSO.
The students also participated in the pledge ceremony against drugs and oath ceremony for true sports enthusiasm on the occasion.
The DC also interacted with the parents and next to kin of martyrs and participating players and wished them best in their life.
Earlier, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Budgam, Balbir Singh Sodhi said that Budgam has marked the overwhelming participation of 1.35 lac students participation in different games against the given 75k target during the current year.
He said similarly events held for senior citizens, drugs awareness, marathons also witnessed participation of 1 lac participants in the district during current year.
