DF, RDD& PR visits Shopian, reviews progress and inspects developmental works
SHOPIAN, September 08: Director Finance Rural Development Department and Panchayti Raj (RDD&PR), Riyaz Ahmad Shah today visited district Shopian to take stock of ongoing developmental.
The visiting officer took a review meeting of the officers of the RDD&PR , which was attended by ACP Shopian Manzoor Ah Mir, Exen REW, Manzoor Ah Wani and other officials of the department in the district.
In the meeting the physical and financial progress under different schemes like MGNREGA, CD-PANCHAYAT, SBM,DISTT. CAPEX etc were reviewed.
It was informed that different components under SBM-Grameen are currently being executed in the district, which include construction of solid waste management sheds, liquid waste management units, community sanitary complexes, individual/community compost and soakage pits.
The status of sanitation under SBM-G was also reviewed by the visiting officer. It was informed that door to door collection and segregation of waste in the district is being done on regular basis.
In this process, the Panchayat Raj institutions and other local bodies are taking part in a collective way.
Each panchayat has arranged two swachh grahs for managing the waste. These swachh grahs are being paid out of the user charges collected on a regular basis in the panchayats.
It is to be noted that SBM-G deals with the management of solid, liquid and faecal waste in rural areas.
For dealing with the solid waste, there are about 120 solid waste management sheds, 05 plastic waste management units, 13000 individual compost pits and about 2000 community compost pit in district.
Similarly, for dealing with liquid waste, there are about 130 community soakage pits, 25000 individual soakage pits in the district, in addition to about 14000 kitchen gardens.
To manage fecal waste, about 37000 twin pitted IHHL units have been constructed.
The visiting officer was informed that many steps have been taken like disposal of legacy waste, installation of individual and community dustbins and mass awareness campaigns to keep the villages neat and clean.
Later on, Director Finance alongwith the district officers and officials visited panchayat halqas of Chitragam A, Turkawangam, Chitragam B in which he inspected many SBM assets like CSCs, SWMs, LWMs.
The officer insisted and directed all the implementing officers to keep the district, particularly public places clean on a sustainable basis.
