DFCO disallows operation of 25 retail medical stores for violation of norms
JAMMU, May 16: Drugs & Food Control Organisation conducted special enforcement Drive in Jammu Province to ensure that the pharmacies operate strictly in consonance with the mandate of law and don’t indulge in any unethical sale of pharmaceutical preparations falling under Schedule H & Schedule H1.
Surprise checking of Drugs Sale Establishments was carried out under the direct supervisions of respective Assistant Drug Controllers & overall supervision of Deputy Drugs Controller, Jammu Mohammad Iqbal Palla, particularly in far flung areas of Jammu Province.
During the drive, Operations of Twenty Four Retail Sale Establishments ( 7 in Jammu, 2 each in Samba, Poonch & Doda; 5 in Kathua, 3 in Rajouri, 1 each in Reasi, Ramban & Kishtwar) were disallowed u/s 22 (d) of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 on spot. The reasons for suspension of Licenses were particularly non maintenance of Sales records as mandated under the Act.
Moreover, surprise inspections in rural belts were carried during late hours wherein Two Unlicensed Shops (One at Dablehar, R.S Pura being run by one Naresh Kumar S/o Jagdish Raj R/o Arnia and another at Hill Darhal, Rajouri being run by one Bhaskar Majid) were identified by the sleuths of the organization, which were closed down on spot by the team of Drugs Control Officers. Drugs found stocked in both the shops amounting to Rs. 59032 were seized on spot and the investigations in the matter have been initiated as per the Provisions laid down under the Act.
Lotika Khajuria, State Drugs Controller has once again impressed upon members of trade fraternity to strictly adhere to the norms and install CCTV Cameras in their premises and to adopt computerized system of billing for maintenance of records in larger public interest.
