Dharmarth Trust celebrates 75th Republic Day with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, January 26: Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust celebrated 75th Republic Day with patriotic fervour at the Trust’s Central Office here today.

The programme commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by Brig. R.S Langeh (Retd), President of the Trust along with Trust’s Secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma (SSP Rtd) in presence of employees of the Central Office. This was followed by saluting of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem.

In his address to the gathering, Brig. R.S Langeh emphasized the significance of the Republic Day celebration and deemed it as an auspicious day. On behalf of the Chairman Trustee, he extended warm congratulations to the employees’ fraternity.

Brig. Langeh shed light on the historical journey leading to the establishment of the Republic of India. He recounted pivotal moments, such as the first freedom slogan by the Indian National Congress in 1920, and subsequent movements like the Quit India Movement and the Salt Movement, all aimed at achieving freedom from British rule. He highlighted that India gained independence in 1947 under the old act of the Constitution formulated by the British.

Subsequently, he recounted the establishment of a Committee headed by Dr. B.R Ambedkar by the first Indian government, leading to the formulation of the nation’s own Constitution in 1950.

Further, Brig. Langeh shared insights into the formation of the Trust’s Constitution, known as Ain-I-Dharmarth, which was established in 1846 by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He proudly stated that the Trust’s Constitution has remained unchanged since its inception.

Expressing optimism for the future, Brig. Langeh conveyed his vision of taking the Trust to new heights. He emphasized that this goal can only be achieved through the committed and dedicated participation of everyone involved.

Secretary Ashok Sharma, in his address, greeted the Trust’s employees on the auspicious occasion of 75th Republic Day and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters. He said that Republic Day is the day to reiterate our commitment to uphold the nationalistic values for which the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives.

Asserting that preserving rich culture and traditions is a significant part of nationalism, he said that temples across the nation are indeed an inseparable component of culture which needs to be preserved and maintained properly.

Thanking the employees of the trust for maintaining the traditions of the Trust, the Secretary expected full support of the employees as they continue to contribute tremendously working in a mission mode for the upliftment of the Trust.

Officials of LIC Branch, Shalamar, also joined the Republic Day celebration headed by its Branch Head, Sanjay Sharma.

Later, a high-tea was also organized for the participants.
