Dharmarth Trust pays rich tributes to Maharaja Ranbir Singh

JAMMU, September 12: J&K Dharmarth Trust today paid rich tributes to Maharaja Ranbir Singh during a programme organized at the Ranbireshwar Temple on his 138th death anniversary.

Brig R.S Langeh (Retd), President Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust, highlighted the lifetime contributions of Maharaja Ranbir Singh for the people of his kingdom. He said that it was Maharaja Ranbir Singh who went on to annex Gilgit which had previously witnessed a rebellion against the state and the princely states of Hunza and Nagar started paying tributes to Jammu and Kashmir during his reign. Even in the field of justice Maharaja Ranbir Singh established a modern judicial system compiling civil laws and compiling criminal laws in the form of Ranbir Penal Code during his reign, he added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ranbir Singh was the third son of Maharaja Gulab Singh and ascended to the throne in August 1854 and continued to rule till his death on 12th September 1885.
