Dharmarth Trust to organise Grand Rath Yatra on Sep 6
JAMMU, Sept. 4: The J&K Dharmarth Trust, in collaboration with the Sanatan Dharm Sabha and Dharmik Youvak Mandal, is going to organize a grand Rath Yatra on September 6, 2023, to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janamashtami.
Addressing media persons at Trust’s Central Office in Jammu, Brig R.S Langeh (Retd), President of J&K Dharmarth Trust informed that this much-awaited event will witness devotees and enthusiasts from all corners of Jammu region coming together to pay homage to Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, on His birth anniversary. The Rath Yatra will provide a platform for spiritual enlightenment and cultural enrichment while fostering the spirit of unity among the devotees.
He said that the Shri Krishna Janamashtami celebrations will commence with a captivating Rathyatra, a religious procession wherein the beautifully adorned chariot carrying the idols of Shri Krishna and Radha will be towed through the streets of Temple City. The procession will be accompanied by enthusiastic participants, both young and old, singing devotional songs and chants, spreading the message of love, compassion, and harmony.
Trust’s President informed that the Trustees will preside over the Shobha Murti Poojan ceremony, scheduled to take place at 3:30 PM on September 6, 2023 at the ancient Shri Raghunathji Temple, Jammu. Following this, at 4:00 PM, the Rath Poojan and Dhwajarohan ceremony will commence, with distinguished Trustees M.K Ajatshatru Singh and Ranvijay Singh presiding. The Rath Yatra will be flagged off after these auspicious rituals.
Brig Langeh requested the people of the Jammu region to join the celebrations in large numbers and make it a grand success. He emphasized the significance of these auspicious occasions, which provide an opportunity for individuals to connect with their rich culture and roots.
He also expressed gratitude to the District Administration Jammu and Police Department for providing necessary support for the successful conduct of Rath Yatra.
Ashok Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the Trust, informed that the Shobha Yatra will follow the traditional route, starting from the historical Shri Raghunathji Temple. The procession will pass through various markets, including Residency Road, Rajinder Bazaar, Kanak Mandi, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Chowk Chabutra, Panjtirthi, Mubarak Mandi, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar, Raj Tilak Road, Old Hospital Road, and Raghunath Bazaar, before finally culminating at Shri Raghu Nath Ji Temple.
He said the Rath Yatra holds immense cultural and religious significance, serving as a means to pay homage to Lord Krishna and celebrate his birth. He expressed his gratitude to the participating organizations for their collaboration in organizing this event. He encouraged the local communities in Jammu to embrace this opportunity to reconnect with their spiritual heritage and participate actively in the festivities.
Varinder Jamwal, Additional Secretary of the Trust, Anil Sharma, President of Dharmik Yuvak Mandal, and Gopal Sharma, Secretary of Dharmik Yuvak Mandal, were also present at the press conference.
