DHEW Budgam conducts day-long Awareness programme on BBBP at Khansahib
BUDGAM, February 15: Under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Social Welfare, Budgam and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) today organized a one-day awareness on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, here.
On the occasion, Pareesha Children’s Home for Girls was also inaugurated at Khan Sahib Budgam.
The program was attended by SDM Khansaheb, District Social Welfare Officer Budgam, BDO, BDC member, Team DHEW, OSC, ICPS, PRI members, AWW and other local people.
During the programme, SDM Khansahib Syed Ahmad Attari said that the Pareesha Children’s Home for Girls with a facility of 25 beds has been made functional to provide immediate care and protection to the girl child from vulnerable situation by sustained interventions having integrated services under one roof such as Counselling, Health checkups, Recreational activities Home study and education.
He further said that our mission is to be a strong voice for children, championing their rights and reaching out to children in need of care and protection, offering them a protective home and rehabilitating them through a holistic rehabilitation program.
Meanwhile, District Social Welfare Officer Budgam, Dr. Farhana Asgar said that Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is a project of the Government of India, which aims to bring awareness and development in the provision of welfare services.
She further said that to know the importance of women’s education, it is important to know the importance of women in the society. She said Education is the key that can unlock all the locks of success. No nation can develop without education. We should also focus on the education of girls, DSWO added.
Afroza Bhat District Mission Coordinator raised awareness on different schemes like Pension schemes, Scholarship schemes, Prosthetic Aids, SMAS and Women empowerment schemes available at District level such as DHEW, OSC, WHL 181, Shelter Home, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Ladli Beti, PMMVY, Employment generation schemes viz. Tejaswini, Mumkin, PMEGP, etc.
She also gave detailed information on how DHEW-Mission Shakti is playing an effective role by providing awareness/training among young female folks to generate self-employment by taking advantage of available schemes at District level.
At the end of the programme, blankets among girl children were distributed under this initiative of BBBP.
