DIET Banihal hosts lecture on Mission LiFE
Tehsildar sensitises participants about Sustainable Development Goals
RAMBAN, DECEMBER 26: District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) on Monday organized a workshop cum training programme on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to sensitize the participants to implement Mission LiFE successfully.
Tehsildar Banihal, Imtiaz, who is also an Ambassador to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) delivered a detailed lecture on the subject.
Tehsildar said that the Mission LiFE aims to make individual environment-friendly behaviour a mass movement. “It will crowd source empirical and scalable ideas that can be adopted by a large number of people. It will also leverage local climate-friendly social norms and religious beliefs across the world,” he said.
Tehsildar also presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the role of SDGs which forms Agenda 2030. He stressed the localisation of SDGs. He also presented a detailed overview of Mission LiFE launched by Prime Minister recently.
He informed that as part of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the Indian Government has unveiled a list of 75 lifestyle practices that can promote climate-friendly behavior. These actions are listed under 7 categories – energy saving, water saving, reduced use of single-use plastic, sustainable food systems, waste reduction (swachhata actions), adopting healthy lifestyle, and e-waste handling.
During the interaction session, the participants were encouraged to adopt these LiFE actions as part of Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE). Trainees were requested to adopt these SDGs by involving all stakeholders, especially Students and Youth.
