Dir Agri launches awareness campaign to mark celebration of 6th Crop Insurance Week
Publicity Van flagged off for spreading mass awareness
JAMMU, December 01: To mark the celebration of 6th Crop Insurance / PMFBY Week, a function was held at Krishi Bhawan, Jammu, where Fasal Bima Yojna Awareness Van was flagged off by Director Agriculture Production Department, Ram Savak.
Joint Director of Extension, Input and SLUB, representatives from Reliance General Insurance and Iffco Tokio General Insurance Companies, as well as officers and staff of Agriculture department were present on the occasion.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among farmers in the Jammu division through workshops, bank visits, and CSC centers. Throughout the campaign, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials will be distributed to maximize coverage during the Rabi season 2023-24.
The van campaign is being organized by IFFCO TOKIO Insurance Company in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Jammu under Pardhan Mantri Fasal BhimaYojna (PMFBY).
Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture said that the purpose of celebrating Crop Insurance Week is to conduct a massive awareness campaign and ensure maximum enrolment of the farmers under the Crop Insurance scheme during Rabi 2023-24. He emphasized that the Fasal Bima Yojna will go a long way in mitigating the financial risk of the farmer suffering from the crop losses and aid in stabilizing the farmer’s income. This will also ensure flow of credit in the Agriculture Sector.
Director Agriculture informed that this Van will cover all the panchayats of Jammu District to promote Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) and its coverage among the farming community.
He urged farmers to enrol under the scheme to avail the benefits against weather-vagaries for the notified crops, including Paddy and Maize in the Kharif season and Wheat in the Rabi season with a minimal premium of 2% (Kh)/ 1.5% (Rabi season) as per the Scale of Finance.

YUVA VANI -One Day orientation program held for unemployed youth of Kishtwar District
KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 01: The Career counselling and Guidance Cell (CCGC) of Government Degree College Kishtwar, in collaboration with Agriculture Production & Farmers welfare Department, organised a one day Orientation Programme -YUVA VANI to encourage the unemployed youth of the District to avail benefits of Agriculture and allied sectors schemes being provided under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan(today under HADP) . The programme was organised under the patronage of the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Parihar in convenorship of Prof. Asma Javaid.
Amjad Hussain Malik, Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar & District Nodal Officer HADP was the Chief guest of the event, while Sahil Gandotra, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Padder was the guest speaker.
Earlier, the coordinator of event and convenor CCGC GDC Kishtwar, Prof. Asma Javaid welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest Speaker, officers from Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Department and other participants.
Speaking at the event, Sahil Gandotra highlighted a range of entrepreneurship opportunities for youth under HADP in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Fisheries, Sericulture, Apiculture, Extension Marketing and Floriculture.
In his address, Chief Guest Amjad Hussain Malik encouraged the students to explore and avail entrepreneurship and business opportunities provided through a variety of government schemes under HADP.
The programme was attended by Dr. Usman Sheikh (VAS), Dr. Musawar Rashied (VAS), Ruksana Kousar (AEO), Humaira Nabi (JAEO), Fozia Nazir, Indu Bhagat (Sericulture Department) and other participants from SHG of NRLM. About 80 Students from GDC Kishtwar attended the programme who actively participated in Group Discussion post the lecture.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sehrish Ghazal.
