Director Agriculture Kashmir visited oilseed fields of Pulwama district

Saya under Holistic agriculture development programme due consideration given to the promotion of oilseed cultivation

 SRINAGAR: MARCH 28 The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited oilseed fields of Pulwama district. Director visited different villages including Gulzarpora, Tahab, Padgampora, lethpora and took stock of the current scenario of oilseed (mustard) crop.

While talking to the concerned farmers director agriculture said that this year we are expecting a bumper oilseed crop. He said the scientific intervention introduced by the department and adopted by the oilseed farmers in their fields have started bearing fruits.

 He said that under Holistic agriculture development programme, Promotion of oilseed cultivation have been given due consideration. The oilseed project included several interventions aimed at increasing oilseed production and productivity, he added. 

 Director  directed the concerned officers to work in close coordination with the farmers and guide them in all the pre and post harvest operations. 

 Director Agriculture was accompanied by Chief agriculture officer Pulwama, District Agriculture Officer Extension, District Agriculture Officer Inputs, Sub-division Agriculture Officer Kakapora, AEO Tahab, AEO Noorpora and other officers.

Later he chaired a meeting of seed dealers of the Kashmir division at agriculture complex Lalmandi Srinagar. In his address he reiterated the importance of quality seeds for the overall success of a cropping season. He asked the concerned officers to put in all the efforts in this direction and ensure that only the genuine and quality planting material reaches the farming community of the region.
