Director Agriculture visits Maloora Srinagar
Says promotion of agri-entrepreneurship is among the priority initiatives
SRINAGAR, JULY 11: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited vegetable growing areas of Maloora, Srinagar and took stock of the vegetables Cultivated on latest scientific lines by different agri-preneurs in the area.
As a part of ongoing farmers outreach program he visited different vegetable fields, hi-tech polyhouses and reviewed the crop status in the area.
Speaking to the budding agri-entrepreneurs, Director Agriculture reiterated the department’s commitment to the promotion of entrepreneurship culture in agriculture and allied sectors. He said the department is working on an ambitious plan to attract more and more educated youth towards agriculture and allied activities.
He asked the officers to work in close coordination with these agri-entrepreneurs and make all possible efforts to ensure that these success stories may be replicated in all the areas of Kashmir division. He assured the agri-preneurs and other farmers of all the support and technical guidance in their endeavors.
Director Agriculture said that under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme a special project has been approved for the vertical and horizontal expansion of vegetable cultivation in the region. He said the department is continuously working to facilitate the concerned farmers so that they could get good marketing platforms, the produce reaches multiple markets at the right time and they could fetch maximum return for their produce.
Chowdhury said with the implementation of different initiatives by the department on ground, the farmers are now able to produce different types of vegetables round the year.
Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Srinagar and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
