Director Horticulture visits Pulwama & Shopian; participates in Kissan Sampark Abhiyan programmes
SRINAGAR, JULY 11: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. Mir today visited Pulwama and Shopian districts and participated in the Kissan Sampark Abhiyan, an important component of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
During the visit, Director Horticulture actively engaged in the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan, commencing with an event in Panchayat Halqa Gudoora, Pulwama, and later in Keegam, Shopian. He inspected ongoing Kisan Sampark Abhiyan programmes held in twin districts, witnessing a large gathering of farmers.
Highlighting the importance of the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan, Director Horticulture emphasized that it is a pivotal initiative in equipping farmers with the latest knowledge and skills. By providing proper training and guidance, farmers can significantly enhance their crop yield and income, thereby contributing to the growth of the agriculture industry.
He instructed the officers to effectively publicize and implement the programme, actively encouraging and motivating farmers to participate.
Director Horticulture’s visit to Pulwama and Shopian districts is part of the government’s commitment to the holistic development of agriculture.
Later, the Director visited High-Density apple orchards at the village Allaipora Shopian.
Recognizing the potential and importance of these orchards, Director Horticulture Kashmir actively participated in discussions with farmers, addressing their concerns, and sharing valuable insights on modern horticultural practices.
He also inaugurated a solar irrigation pump during his visit. The solar irrigation pump represents a sustainable solution that harnesses renewable energy to power irrigation systems, reducing dependency on conventional energy sources and minimizing the environmental impact.
The Director Horticulture was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officers and other officials of these districts.
