Director of Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh Tashi Dolma convenes meeting with Religious Groups to Celebrate International Women’s Day
Leh, March 02, 2024: In anticipation of the upcoming International Women’s Day on 8th March, a meeting was convened by the Director of the Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh Tashi Dolma with the Women’s Wing of all the religious groups (Anjuman-e-Imamia, Anjuman-Moin-Ul-Islam, Ladakh Buddhist Association). The Director briefed the meeting about the program’s theme, ‘To Celebrate the Extraordinary Journey of Ordinary Women’, and also took inputs from the representatives of the groups. The meeting decided to celebrate International Women’s Day in all festivity and fervor in convergence with the Women’s Wing of all religious groups.
The meeting discussed that the event will be celebrated on 8th March at 11 AM in Main Bazaar and will be a day-long event. It will have a Panel Discussion on the ‘Women’s Reservation Bill’, which is a historic milestone in our struggle towards gender equality and equal representation. For the first time, a live Sarphel Laskhungs podcast will be broadcast in the Main Bazaar which will cover the story of an ordinary woman who has achieved extraordinary feats in her life. Further, it will feature women who broke ceilings to aspire, dream, and carve a commendable space for themselves and others.
