District admin conducts scrutiny of Banihal MC Electoral Roll
RAMBAN, August 10: In compliance with the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Programme Officer, ICDS, Jahangir Hashmi spearheaded an intensive scrutiny of the Municipal Electoral Roll Revision related to the Banihal Municipal area.
The meticulous oversight, conducted in collaboration with SDM Banihal Zaheer Abass and Executive Officer Municipal Committee, serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the District administration Ramban to uphold democratic principles.
During the comprehensive four-day scrutiny, PO ICDS Ramban expressed commendation for the progress achieved thus far. Acknowledging the collective efforts of the stakeholders involved in the revision process, he extolled the diligence demonstrated in updating the electoral rolls with accuracy and efficiency.
Addressing the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), he directed them to meticulously safeguard the physical records encompassing the data of all eligible voters. This inclusive record shall encompass information pertaining to existing voters, fresh additions, and deletions, comprehensively covering all seven wards of the Banihal Municipality.
Elaborating on this meticulous two-tier verification approach, which synergizes the ease of digital accessibility with the tangible authenticity of physical records, PO remarked, “These physical records serve as the bedrock for rigorous cross-verification, thereby bolstering the credibility of the information housed within the digital portal. This approach distinctly embodies the District Administration’s resolute commitment to nurturing a robust and infallible electoral framework.”
It merits attention that in the mere span of four days following the Observer’s directive for the Electoral Roll Revision, a remarkable addition of 560 newly eligible voters has been recorded across the seven wards of the Banihal Municipality. This outstanding augmentation signifies an impressive growth of 11.5% in the electoral rolls, underscoring a substantial surge from the 2018 voter list figures.
