District admin organises mega anti drug awareness camp in Government Degree College Rajouri
DC flags off mammoth rally of students
RAJOURI, April 29: In continuation to the Nasha Mukht Bahrat Abhiyan, the district administration Rajouri today organised a mega anti- drug campaign here in Government Degree College.
The mammoth anti-drug awareness program was attended by more than 1500 people including students of Degree College, Higher Secondary Schools, teachers, members of the Civil society including religious and community leaders, political and social leaders, PRI members, paramedical staff, Asha and Anganwadi workers, and common masses.
All the speakers threw light on the setback being caused by the menace of drug abuse in the society. They deliberated in detail how its tentacles are spreading the grip on our younger generation and pose a serious threat to the society as a whole.
All the speakers emphatically appreciated the efforts of the District Administration Rajouri for waging an all-out war against this demon by mobilizing each and every segment of the society including religio-politico-socio-government and non-government agencies which if continued in this manner shall definitely conclude by winning this battle and saving our generation from this most challenging threat of our time.
The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri explained in detail about the urgency involved in waging the war against this social evil in the district as it has spread in alarming proportion and if steps on a war footing are not taken at this point of time, the disease will cause an irreparable loss to the society, and our conscience will not be able to justify the responsibility which the society has bestowed on us.
Further, he also shared the strategy of the District Administration in the coming days which includes holding of massive awareness programs in every nook and corner of the district including at tehsil, block, Panchayat, ward, and Mohalla level, roping in all especially the religious leaders/ community leaders, political and civil society members, teachers, councillors, PRI members, NGOs, Government departments especially Health, Social Welfare, Education, drug controller department, chemists etc.
The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri also maintained that clear-cut directions have been passed on to all the executive magistrates and police department to be tough with the drug peddlers and drug dealers selling spurious drugs/contrabands and other black sheep in the society who for their petty personal benefits are hell-bent upon spoiling our younger generation bringing death and destruction in our homes.
“Installation of the CCTV cameras in all the chemist shops, strengthening of the ATF and drug de addiction center Rajouri and strict vigil on the suspicious persons involved in selling and tempting the tender-minded youth for this drug abuse and identifying and regular counseling and rehabilitation of the identified drug addicts in the district with a sympathetic approach to bring them out of this hell, are some of the main steps of the District Administration,” he explained.
On the occasion, the DC Rajouri also administered a pledge to the participants to refrain from drug addiction and spread this anti drug message in the society for making Rajouri a Nasha Mukt district.
SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh, also spoke on the occasion and expressed the resolve of the District police, in close coordination with the District Administration, to fight the menace by adopting a multipronged strategy and acting quite toughly against drug peddlers and keeping strict vigil against the perpetrators.
ADC Rajouri, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria, presented vote of thanks and conveyed that under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, such outreach awareness programs shall continue in the district till this battle is won.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Principal GMC, Dr. AmarJeet Singh; Principal GDC Rajouri, Shamim Malik, DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; Professor, Iqbal Raina while ACR Rajouri, Imran Rashid Kataria; ACD, Vijay Kumar; ACP, Sheraz Chowhan; DySP DR, Mudasir Chowdhary were also present during the event.
Following the event, all the participants took part in a mammoth rally carrying banners, placards, pamphlets with anti-drug messages, walking from GDC Rajouri to PWD Dakbunglow before dispersing peacefully.
