District Administration, Handicrafts-Handloom Department Join Forces to Organize 2-Day Craft Carnival 2023
POONCH, September 12: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary today chaired a meeting in his chamber bringing together prominent officers from the district to discuss the arrangements for the upcoming Craft Carnival 2023.
The event, organized by the Handicrafts/Handloom Department in collaboration with the District Administration, is scheduled to take place on September 14th and 15th.
Chief Executive Officer, PDA, Dr. Mohd.Tanveer Khan; PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa; ACD, Abid Hussain Shah; Chief Education Officer, Bishamber Dass; DSWO, Mohinder Paul; AD Handloom/Handicraft, Shazia Rehman; ARTO, Chowdhary Jamsheed Rasool; DEPO, N.M Suri; District Culture Officer Rajouri/Poonch, Dr.Alamdar Adam; AEE Aslam Khan; AHTO, Parupkar Singh besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of cooperation among the various departments to ensure the overall success of the Craft Carnival. Several key directives were issued to the concerned departments to guarantee a seamless experience for the attendees.
To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council has been instructed to ensure the cleanliness of the venue, Krishan Chander Park, and its surrounding areas. Sufficient dustbins will be installed, and Safai Karamcharis will be deployed to maintain cleanliness throughout the event. Additionally, two mobile toilets will be set up at the venue for the convenience of the attendees.
The Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Poonch has been directed to ensure a smooth supply of drinking water at the venue. Temporary taps will be installed, and arrangements for a water tanker for the duration of the event will be made. The Executive Engineer of JPDCL Poonch will be responsible for providing uninterrupted power supply during the Craft Carnival.
The issue of security arrangements was entrusted to the police authority, ensuring a safe environment for all participants and visitors.
To mobilize public participation, the Chief Education Officer, the PO, ICDS Poonch, the Heads of different Government Degree Colleges and the District Social Welfare Officer will actively engage youth, students, teachers, PRIs, and the general public to encourage their involvement in the Craft Carnival.
Efforts will also be made to facilitate smooth traffic movement near the venue. The installation of poles for multicolored flags will be taken care of by the Executive Engineer of PWD (R&B) Poonch, who will ensure an adequate number of poles using pipes at the venue.
Medical facilities, including a medical camp and an ambulance, will be available on-site for the duration of the event, ensuring the well-being of all attendees.
Various departments, such as GM DIC, DSWO, Project Manager NRLM, and Women Development Co-operation, have been directed to set up stalls showcasing their respective initiatives and offerings.
To ensure extensive media coverage, the District Information Officer of Poonch and the Assistant Director of AIR Poonch have been tasked with telecasting and providing publicity for the event on All India Radio and local channels. The participation of media personnel will be coordinated by the District Information Officer.
Accommodation arrangements for artisans and weavers will be facilitated by the Executive Officer of PDA and the Executive Engineer of PWD (R&B) Poonch.
Lastly, the Cultural Officer of Rajouri-Poonch, Dr. Alamdar Adam, will liaison with AD Handloom/Handicraft Poonch to organize musical programs and live painting during the event. The District Cultural Officer will provide the sound system at the venue.
