District Administration Poonch conducts market inspection ahead of festival season

POONCH, MARCH 29: In compliance with the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, a joint market inspection drive was conducted today in the main Market Poonch to ensure availability of quality goods and keep a check on overpricing and profiteering ahead of the upcoming festival season.  

The team, comprising officials of Municipal Council Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Legal Metrology Department, Revenue Department, and Police Department, targeted key markets, including Prade Market, Main Market, Sandigate, Allapeer, and Haji Market.

The team removed encroachments, assessed sanitation standards, checked prices and quality of essential commodities being sold in the market. As part of the initiative, the team seized approximately 8 KG of polythene from shopkeepers.

The officials took strict action against violators, instructing vendors and shopkeepers to adhere to prescribed prices and maintain hygiene. The team also urged the public to remain vigilant while purchasing goods and report any malpractices.

The District Administration Poonch has reiterated its commitment to maintaining order in the markets and ensuring a safe and fair shopping experience for the residents of Poonch during this festive season. Authorities have warned that similar inspections will continue in the coming days to enforce compliance.
