District Administration Reasi shuts down unauthorized Hot Mix, Batching Plants

REASI, NOVEMBER 22: In a decisive move to ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations, the District Administration Reasi, following recommendations from the Pollution Control Board (PCB), has ordered the closure of two hot mix plants and one batching plant operating without mandatory consents.

The plants, running under the names of M/S NH Constructions Pvt. Ltd. and Ajit (hot mix plant), were found to be functioning in violation of pollution control norms, posing environmental and public health risks.

District Magistrate Vishesh Paul Mahajan emphasised the administration’s commitment to upholding environmental laws and ensuring sustainable development. “We will not tolerate any activity that compromises the health of our citizens or the environment.

Businesses operating in violation of regulations must either comply fully or face stringent actions,” said the District Magistrate. He urged all industrial units to prioritize obtaining formal consents before commencing operations to avoid legal repercussions.

District Magistrate Reasi also orders that no cash payment shall be received by any Minor Mineral Blocks/Stone Crushers/MDL holders and all such units shall furnish the record of payments received online viz-a-viz supply of material every week to the committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner at District HQ for scrutiny.

The Pollution Control Board had earlier flagged the unauthorized operations of these units, prompting swift action by the administration. This enforcement drive is part of the district’s broader efforts to combat environmental degradation and promote sustainable practices across all sectors.

The administration reassured the public of its continued vigilance against non-compliance to safeguard environmental and public health standards.
