District Congress Committee Jammu commemorates 75th anniversary of Constitution Adoption

Jammu Nov. 26 : On the eve of 75th anniversary of the adoption of our Constitution by the Constituent Assembly, a commemorative function was held here today at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu. The function was organized by District Congress Committee Jammu led by Th. Manmohan Singh.

Former Minister and Senior Congress leader Shri Mula Ram presided over the function. Senior leaders Shri Yogesh Sawhney (Former Minister), Rajnish Sharma (Treasurer PCC), Hari Singh Chib, T.S.Tony(DDC), Bhushan Dogra, Narinder Sharma,Gurdarshan Singh, Dwarka Choudhary, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Suresh Dogra, Sanjeev Panda, Kapil Singh, Vijay Sharma (Seva Dal), Madan Lal Chalotra(OBC) and Zahoor Tantery, were present.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Mula apprised the gathering about the role Congress (INC) of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in close coordination with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for the welfare and upliftment of poor and downtrodden especially SC/ST/OBC and minorities. Congress has always taken care of the rights of the downtrodden for their upliftment in every field and sphere of life.

Speaking on the occasion Yogesh Sawhney and Shri Rajnish Sharma threw light on various steps and several others measures taken by the Congress in last 75 years to fulfill Dr Ambedkar’s dream of creating a social democracy and to bring economic equality. They highlighted the importance of the Constitution and socio-political philosophy of Ambedkar. They said that this event will also remind the nation how Dr Ambedkar as Chairman of Drafting Committee and the Congress party worked in close partnership in drafting the constitution.

Th. Manmohan Singh highlighted the efforts by present political dispensation to destroy the Constitution without changing its form and how Indian society should respond to the challenge. He then discussed the steps that are required to reclaim democracy from the onslaught of fascist forces.
