District Development Commissioner flags off awareness Rally on National Road Safety in Reasi

REASI, January 18: District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan, today flagged off a rally from the DC Office Reasi to mark the commencement of the month-long National Road Safety Awareness campaign in the district.

Addressing the students, DDC Vishesh Mahajan emphasized the critical importance of strict adherence to traffic rules for the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians. He urged the public to prioritize safe driving practices, including the use of helmets, seat belts, and adherence to speed limits. The rally, which traversed through markets of Reasi, prominently displaying Road Safety related messages to raise awareness among the community.

Highlighting the aggressive one month awareness campaign, he stressed on laying focus on educating all stakeholders about the necessary precautionary measures. He underscored the alarming number of lives lost and permanent disabilities resulting from road accidents each year, emphasizing the need for  collective efforts to curb such incidents.

To address road safety concerns specific to Reasi, the district administration is actively identifying vulnerable and black spots, monitoring overloading on all routes and informing the public about potential blind curves. Immediate measures will be implemented in these areas to prevent accidents and enhance road safety.

The rally concluded successfully at the Bus Stand in Reasi, where ARTO Tare Mani and Inspector MVD expressed gratitude to all participants and departments for their support in organizing the event.

 ACD Anirudh Rai, Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh and other concerned officers and officials were present on the occasion.
