District Election Department Ramban organises awareness-cum-enrolment drive

DEO appeals youth to register as voters

RAMBAN, April 25: As part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2023, the District Election department Ramban today organised an awareness-cum-enrollment drive here at Government Degree college,  under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme.

District Election Officer (DEO), Mussarat Islam was the chief guest on the occasion.  Principal, Government Degree College, Ramban Prof. Archna Koul, Dy. District Election Officer, Lal Chand, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.

The objective of organizing the event was to educate the prospective voters about the importance of voting and their role in the electoral process, besides highlighting the importance of voter participation in a democracy and educating the eligible voters about their registration in the electoral roll.

Speaking on the occasion, the DEO said that such awareness programmes are being organized across the district with an aim to sensitize the eligible voters about the importance of their right to franchise. He exhorted the youth to get themselves enrolled as voters during the ongoing Special Summary Revision and actively take part in electoral process  and contribute to the developmental process of the country. He appealed to the students to act as ambassadors to disseminate awareness among others about the ongoing Special  Summary Revision in their respective villages and areas so that no eligible youth is left unregistered as voters.

The SVEEP activities in Ramban  district are gaining momentum with every passing day and are successful in creating awareness about the importance of voters’ participation and educating prospective voters about the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2023, the DEO added.

 Terming EPICs as an important document of a citizen, the College Principal   dwelt in detail about the importance of registration as voters, and right to franchise in a democratic country.

 Sensitizing the newly eligible voters, the Deputy District Election Officer informed about the Forms No 6, 6B, 7 and 8 which are filled for registration as new voters, aadhar linkage, deletion and transposition, respectively. He also sensitized the participants about the online registration as a voter on the National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) and the Mobile Voter Helpline App.
