District Election Officer Reasi reviews preparedness for Lok Sabha Election
REASI, MARCH 10: District Election Officer (DEO) Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, chaired a meeting today to review the preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election in the district.
During the meeting, District Election Officer Mahajan briefed the Officers about the delimitation process carried out vis-a-vis District Reasi and provided a detailed review of the total population, voters, and polling stations in the district. Threadbare discussion was held on sensitive and vulnerable polling stations, with emphasis on ensuring their security during the election process.
DEO Mahajan highlighted that Reasi would serve as the dispatch and collection center during the election. A detailed transport plan was also reviewed, with an emphasis on ensuring that polling parties reach their designated stations on time.
Further, DEO Mahajan discussed the arrangements for the transit strong room and exhorted the concerned officers to leave no stone unturned to make this happen well within time. Meanwhile, he also directed the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Reasi to arrange vehicles polling station-wise, with a reserve pool in accordance with the district transport plan. He stressed on the importance of providing basic amenities such as toilets, water, electricity, and cleanliness at every polling station. For Polling stations without electricity, he suggested the installation of solar lights. Additionally, arrangements for food and first aid for polling parties were discussed.
The meeting also had a comprehensive discussion vis-à-vis detailed plan for Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, aimed at increasing voter awareness and participation. He highlighted the importance of implementation of webcasting, photography, and videography at vulnerable and critical polling stations ensuring a free and fair election.
SSP Mohita Sharma provided a detailed review of the security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of polling.
Stressing on the need to conduct free and fair election, he exhorted the officers to give wide publicity to the toll-free number 1950 and control room contact number 01991-244320 for the information of general public to get their grievances redressed. He further clarified that for any election-related grievances citizens can contact the control room at the DC office complex or call the toll-free number.
DEO Mahajan urged all officers to maintain close coordination with each other to ensure the successful conduct of the election in the district.
Sukhdev Singh Samyal ADDC Reasi, Mohammad Anwar Banday PO Poshan, Tariq Aziz SDM Dharmari, Mazahir Hussain SDM Mahore, Piyush Dhotra SDM Katra, Vipan Chandran ASP Katra, Pardeep Kumar ACD, Anshumali Sharma ACR, Rakesh Kumar Dy. DEO, Iftkhar Ahmed Adl. SP, Officers of the Paramilitary forces and other senior district officers were present in the meeting.
