District Health Society observes World AIDS Day at GMC Doda

DODA, DECEMBER 02: The District Health Society, in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC) Doda & J&K State AIDS Control Society marked World AIDS Day 2024 with a meaningful program aimed at spreading awareness about the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The event, held at GMC Doda (Ghat), saw participation from students, faculty, and healthcare professionals.


Dr. Rakesh Bahl, Principal GMC Doda; Dr. Om Kumar, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda, District Information Officer Doda Mr. Nasir Ahmed Khan; Heads of Departments from GMC Doda, BMO Ghat; MBBS students; and nursing students from both government and private institutions were present for the occasion.


The program featured a symposium and a poster-making competition, showcasing the creativity and understanding of MBBS and nursing students on the theme of HIV/AIDS. Participants emphasized the importance of awareness, prevention, and breaking the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS through engaging speeches and artistic posters.


Faizan A. Tramboo efficiently served as the stage secretary, ensuring the smooth coordination of the event. Faculty members from the Department of Microbiology Dr Safia Khan and the Department of Community Medicine delivered insightful lectures, highlighting advancements in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and the role of society in combating the epidemic.


The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the competition winners.


Dr. Om Kumar, CMO Doda, and Dr. Rakesh Bahl, Principal GMC Doda, addressed the gathering, urging collective efforts to eliminate HIV/AIDS and commending the students and faculty for their enthusiastic participation.
