District Pulwama celebrates ‘National Girl Child Day’

PULWAMA, JANUARY 24: District Pulwama today marked National Girl Child Day with fervor and enthusiasm, as the District Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Pulwama, organized a grand function at Circuit House Pulwama.

The event, graced by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom as the chief guest, aimed to celebrate the achievements of girls and raise awareness about the importance of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative.

Cultural programs filled the air with excitement, showcasing the commitment to the cause. Various girls who have excelled in diverse disciplines took center stage, sharing their inspiring journeys.

Addressing the gathering, DC welcomed all female participants, emphasizing the significance of National Girl Child Day in fostering equality and empowerment. He also emphasized the transformative role of National Girl Child Day in shaping a future devoid of gender disparities.

Reflecting on the positive impact of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, DC highlighted the transformation in societal mindset and behavior. He stressed that girls represent a generation and commended their achievements across various fields. Encouraging a celebration without fear, he envisioned a future where National Girl Child Day is marked with pride and optimism.

The event featured a felicitation ceremony, honoring the female toppers of various classes and recognizing sports achievers. Baby kits were distributed to mothers of newborns, symbolizing a commitment to the well-being of both mother and child.

The program was attended by Programme Officer ICDS, DSWO Pulwama, CEO Pulwama and Principal Degree College besides others.
