District Road safety Committee meet held at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 2: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Krittika Jyotsna today convened a meeting of officers of various departments to review the District road safety measures in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Vinod Kumar; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan; Chief Education Officer, Arvin Koul; ARTO, Jugal Sharma; Executive Engineers PWD, PMGSY and district officers of line departments attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on various aspects including enforcement of traffic rules, Identification of black spots, conducting of road safety audits, Establishment of trauma care centres, Minimising road accidents, Maintenance of roads, check on Overloading, creation of Traffic Management System, traffic decongestion measures specifically on the busy routes, installation of signages etc.
The DC said that after identification of black spots the concerned departments have been asked to take remedial action. Executive Engineers PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure regular maintenance of the roads to avoid road accidents.
Traffic police department was asked to regulate traffic & reduce traffic jams and keep check on overloading with the help of local police for the convenience of the general public. The DC asked the concerned to conduct an audit of the road safety on quarterly basis and hold regular meetings and organize awareness camps in this regard.
The Chief Education Officer was directed to organize an awareness programme on road safety measures in the schools.
