District Road Safety Committee reviews enforcement of regulatory measures in Reasi
Unfit vehicles not to enter District boundary; CCTVs installed in School buses/ vans
REASI, NOVEMBER 22: District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan today chaired a meeting of District Road Safety Committee and reviewed the enforcement of traffic rules, identification of black spots, road safety audits, accident reduction, road maintenance, overloading, traffic management here in the video conference Hall of DC Office Complex to assess the road safety measures being implemented in the District.
Discussions covered decongestion, parking, road safety funds, and signage installation.
Emphasizing proactive measures, the DDC strongly recommended the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in school buses. The initiative aims to enhance the safety of school transportation, providing real-time monitoring and fostering a safer environment for students.
District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan directed the Chief Education Officer Reasi to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign across all schools to promote road safety and Nasha Mukat (drug-free) campaign.
The DC highlighted the identification of black spots, with directives to relevant departments for remedial action. Executive Engineers PWD and PMGSY were instructed to ensure regular road maintenance, installation of signage and erection of crash barriers. The CMO and ARTO were tasked with organizing medical eye check-ups for drivers and conductors, while Traffic Police were urged to enhance awareness camps.
The XEN PWD and BRO were directed to expedite the safety audit of all district roads and Traffic Police were directed to collaborate with local police to regulate traffic, reduce congestion, and control overloading. Timely removal of construction material was emphasized for public convenience.
The DC ordered that no passenger vehicle should be allowed to carry goods for transportation. He constituted two committees to work on decongestion of towns. He also emphasised at making the students at school and college level aware of the benefits of following traffic rules. Instructions were issued for ensuring strict punitive action against habitual traffic violators. He also instructed the ARTO to ensure that the unfit vehicles don’t enter the boundary of district Reasi.
SSP Amit Gupta, ADDC Jyoti Slathia, ADC Abdul Star, Joint Director Planning Sunita Kanchan, ACR Anshumali Sharma, Xen PWD, ARTO and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
