Distt Admin Ganderbal conducts mega day-long sanitation drive in Block Safapora
GANDERBAL, February 25: The District Administration Ganderbal today launched a day long sanitation cum awareness drive across Bock Safapora.
The drive was kick-started by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir.
Apart from civil departments, PRI members of Safapora, NGOs viz. She Hope, Society for Rehabilitation of Destitute Girls and Victims of Violence Ganderbal, Voice For Peace & Justice, Civil Society Safapora, Municipal Council Ganderbal, students besides locals participated enthusiastically in the drive and cleaned the roads, lanes and drains and other identified locations of the block where heaps of garbage was dumped.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that all identified locations where heaps of garbage was dumped have been cleaned during the drive. Besides, the aim of launching this mega sanitation drive is to spread the message of public involvement in sanitation and sensitize them about the importance of cleanliness, he added.
He also urged the locals to play their role in maintaining cleanliness in villages adding that a multi-pronged approach by all is what ensured all-round cleanliness in the villages.
During the drive locals were made aware about different aspects of cleanliness and convinced about the importance of source segregation.
Pertinently block Safapora has been declared in Model Category in terms of sanitation and district Ganderbal is the only District in whole UT of J&K that figures in the 2-star category and is at 2nd position in the list of ranking of districts of whole country based on Delta achievement score of SSG-2022.
Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Chief Planning Officer, Irfan Giri, ACP, CEO WMDA besides district officers of line departments participated in the drive.
