Distt Admin intensifies Market checking at Kupwara, other towns
KUPWARA, MARCH 14: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, a market checking team headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Muhammad Rouf Rehman Thursday conducted an intensified market checking in various parts of the Kupwara town.
The drive was conducted to ensure all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates as per the quality standards with sufficient availability of consumables.
The market checking team comprising Tehsildar Kupwara, officers from Police, FCS&CA, Municipal Council Kupwara, Legal metrology, and Food safety departments conducted intensive market checking in different markets of Kupwara town and inspected Bus stand market, Bye-Pass road, Hajaj market, Iqbal market, Jamia Masjid market, Dar Gali and Old Chowk Kupwara and other markets.
During the drive, the market checking team inspected business units including Bakery, confectionery, grocery, vegetable, fruits, meat and chicken shops. They also checked hygienic conditions and the Date of Manufacture, Use-by Date etc.
During the course of market checking all the traders in general, Meat, Chicken, vegetable and fruit sellers in particular were warned to maintain the quality of the products besides all the shopkeepers were also warned to ensure no hoarding, overcharging is made by the shopkeepers.
On the occasion Rs. 2500 were imposed as fine upon erring traders and also a good quantity of rotten vegetables and fruits were destroyed on the spot.
ADC instructed the Market checking teams to continue the drive so that the general public gets a good buying market besides fruits, vegetables, milk etc are available at reasonable fixed rates and there is no black marketing.
He directed Dy. Sp Traffic and SHO Kupwara to ensure streamlining of traffic movement to avoid traffic congestion on daily basis, and CEO MC Kupwara was directed to ensure that the foot paths and the main roads are cleared of any encroachment and bottleneck.
While interacting with the shopkeepers, the ADC asked them to display rate lists at prominent places and adhere to the rates approved and ensure quality standards of eatables otherwise strict legal action will be initiated against erring shopkeepers.
Meanwhile Market checking drive was also conducted in Kralgund and Tangdar markets.
