DLC meeting for Forest Rights Act cases held at Shopian
SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 03: A District Level Committee (DLC) under Forest Rights Act (FRA) was today held at Mini Secretariat Shopian in order to approve the cases of forest rights of applicants of Devpora and Ramnagri villages.
The meeting was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar and was attended by concerned members including DDC members, DPO, DFO and others.
After thorough deliberations and scrutiny by the committee for ascertaining permissibility under the provisions of the Act, the committee approved two (02) cases in favour of residents of Devpora and Ramnagri for allowing community rights of grazing on forest land.
The residents of these two villages had applied for the allotment of community rights to them under the empowering legislation for tribal dwellers. Today’s approval paved the way for the people of these areas to access and use the forest land day so allotted for grazing purposes.
The DDC on the occasion emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach, directing departments to ensure proper verification of claims before submission to the District Level Committees (DLCs) and also making the process more smooth, hassle free and time bound.
