DLL organises a one-day workshop on career counselling and self-employment at Dogra College of Education
JAMMU, June 14, : Employment Information Cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Jammu, in collaboration with Dogra College of Education, Bari Brahmana, organised a one-day workshop on “Importance of Career Counselling and Self-employment” for the students of the college. The event was organised under the patronage and overall supervision of Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu. The inaugural was attended by Dr. Samar Dev Singh, Secretary, Dogra Education Trust; Prof.Darshana, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges; Dr. Shefali Sharma, Academic Co-ordinator and Convenor, IQAC, DCOE; and Dr. V.K. Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education. Dr. Shivani, convener of the Career Counselling Cell, welcomed the guests.
The special resource persons were Dr. Harleen Kaur, Sr. Asst. Prof., Department of Commerce, and Dr.Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, Employment Information and Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu. Dr. Harleen Kaur discussed the concept of self-employment and its relevance in today’s era. She also informed the students about the characteristics of entrepreneurs. Dr.Rewa Khajuria, counsellor, EIAB, DLL, and JU, in her address, threw light on the importance of career planning, appropriate career selection, and career counselling with reference to the B.Ed. students. The workshop was attended by a large number of students and faculty of the college, who not only listened patiently but also appreciated the organisation of such types of workshops in the college. A formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shefali Sharma, academic coordinator, Dogra College of Education.
