DLL organises a series of workshops on Digital Literacy
JAMMU, January 17: Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu started a series of workshops today on Digital Literacy. In this context, the first workshop was inaugurated at R.S. Pura in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, R.S. Pura. Under this theme, three days workshop will include spreading computer-based knowledge to students from diverse streams, which will help them to become proficient in handling digital communication.
Prof. Rajni Bhagat, Principal of the college in her welcome address expressed the dire need for skill development programmes for the students as it helps to build a strong foundation for students at the college level. She further added that it not only helps students to become independent thinkers but also encourages them to plan for their future. She also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Lifelong Learning to organise such workshops for their students.
Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, Director DLL inaugurated the workshop and in her address, she stressed on the need and importance of digital literacy. She informed students that digital literacy skills will make them more proficient and confident. She highlighted that digital literacy is a necessity in today’s educational systems. This critical life skill is important not only for career readiness but also for education and socialization. She delved upon how the workshop on digital literacy will help the students to achieve Honorable Prime Minister’s vision of Digital India and Atamnirbhar Bharat.
Dr. Rewa Khajuria coordinated the workshop and highlighted the workshop objectives. The special resource person was Mr. Surjeet Kumar from the Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu. Around 35 students have registered for the workshop. Dr. Balwinder Kour, Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell of the college conducted the proceedings of the programme and a formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. Rakesh Choudhary .
