DLSA Bandipora organises Legal awareness/ Health camp at Nowgam

BANDIPORA, February 25: The District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Bandipora on Saturday organised a legal awareness programme and a health camp at Primary Health Centre Nowgam, Sumbal in Bandipora district.

Secretary DLSA Nusrat Ali Hakak said the camp was organised under the Chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority and Principal District and Sessions Judge.

Hakak inaugurated the program and interacted with the audience. She said that the senior citizens are a reservoir of experience and knowledge, yet in many cases they are marginalized and almost wished away by the younger generations of the society as a burden on the society.

She also highlighted the myriad of challenges the elderly people are facing i.e., Social, Physical, Mental and Economic which are unique to them.

On the occasion Advocate Aabid Hussain Malla Panel Lawyer and resource person also delivered a lecture on the above cited subject and apprised the gathering regarding various objectives of the Legal Services Scheme, 2016 for Senior Citizens.

A health check-up camp was also organized to provide free medical check-up to the senior citizens and other underprivileged people.

A team of doctors and other staff members from the hospital participated in the health camp.

The Doctors examined all the citizens and gave them valuable insights on how to maintain a fit body with respect to today’s day and age.

At the end of the programme cum camp, free medicines were provided to the people as per the prescriptions.

The said programme was attended by Staff Members of health department Sumbal, Staff Members of DLSA Bandipora, Staff Members of TLSC Sumbal, Para Legal Volunteers of Sumbal, senior citizens and others.
